How do I report an observation?
Login to your account using the "Log In" link that is located in the main menu. Don't have an account? Create one here. Once you're logged in, click on "Flight Observation" under the "Add Content" tab in the administration menu bar at the top of the webpage.
A form will appear. Fill out the fields with the relevant information. If you don't fill out the form correctly (forget the species or the location, for example), the form will remind you upon submission and give you a chance to fix your report. Not every field needs to be filled out, only those with a red asterisk (*) in front of them.
To select a location, there are 2 ways, and they can be used together for optimal efficiency.
Method 1:
Simply zoom in, using the plus and minus buttons on the left hand side of the map, and click on the location of your sighting.
Method 2:
Use the search feature on the map to simply search the location of the sighting.
Note:
One can even put in their exact latitude and longitude to find their location as well.
You can, if noted during your sighting, record the wind direction and flight direction.
Feel free to add any other additional information about your sighting to the description box provided. This is not required.
Save
And finally, don't forget to save your form. It can be edited later.
What if I want to change a report after submitting it?
Log in to your account (if you are not already logged in). Then click on "My Content" tab in the administration menu bar at the top of the webpage. This should open up a listing of all your flight observations, ordered by date. Click on observation that you want to edit and it will bring you to the page view of that observation.
Here you can click the edit tab to return back to the form that you originally filled out. Here you can make any necessary changes to your original posting.
And again, do not forget to save your changes.
If for any reason you wish to delete your posting, you will instead select delete at the bottom of the observation form.
